Data Exporter - Deprecation of XML Manifest for Core and Non-Core Objects with the April '21 Release Yes When a data export is delivered, it contains a manifest which explains the contents of the export. Currently the manifest for core and non-core objects is delivered in both JSON and XML. The XML manifest will continue to be provided alongside the JSON manifest until the April '21 release, at which point the XML manifest will be deprecated and no longer provided for both core and non-core objects. We advise against using the XML manifest in new development work, and suggest you modify applications that currently use the XML manifest as soon as possible. The JSON manifest will continue to be delivered for both core and non-core objects and is the preferred choice.
Deprecation of Custom Reports with the July '21 Release Yes

Cornerstone will be deprecating the legacy reporting solution "Custom Reports" with the July ’21 Release. With Reporting 2.0, users can execute the same business reporting operations as they've done in Custom Reports in addition to Reporting 2.0's rich suite of new features and functionality.

This deprecation was first announced as part of the May '20 release.

Deprecation of Learning Loads for Data Load Wizard (DLW) with the October '21 Release Yes Ability to perform learning data loads using Data Load Wizard will be deprecated with and end-of-life in the October '21 Release. End-of-support will occur in 2021, and support for defects related to the DLW learning loads will stop at this time. DLW is a legacy data load tool which was built on older technology, is accessed using an older user interface (UI), and experiences slow performance and limited load type support.
Edge Import - Curriculum and Test Loads Enhancement Yes

Edge Import - Learning Load Enhancements Yes

As of the 11 September 2020 patch, the following is no longer an acceptable value for the Recurrence field in for Edge Import Learning Loads because it is not a valid standalone recurrence setting:

  • 4 - Allow subsequent instances of training to be approved based on original approval. Leave unmarked to apply approval workflow for every request.
    • This change impacts all Learning loads which support the Recurrence field: Material, Test, Online Course, Video, Curriculum.

In addition, many other enhancements are available with the October '20 release, including UAT. These enhancements impact Learning Object loads and Transcript loads.

Edge Import - Learning Load Enhancements (Transcripts) Yes

A load file with one million records may take one to two days to process. Please consider the load processing time before creating the import file.

Edge Marketplace Informational Tile N/A Edge Marketplace now supports informational tiles, which provide info about an integration built by a Cornerstone partner but cannot be installed by the client. Informational tiles allow clients to learn more about the integration as well as enable clients to express interest to a partner about the integration. Installation and enablement of the integration will be handled directly by the partner who built the integration. Upon opening the informational tile, the client will see a Get Started button in the upper-right corner. After filling out the form, the information will be sent to the partner contact, who will be responsible for following up with the client. Support is the responsibility of the partner and will not be handled through the Global Customer Support team.

Skills Profile & Capabilities Library (Open Beta) Open Beta is available to all organizations in stage and pilot environments with the October '20 Release on October 30.

This functionality is available in Stage and Pilot portals with the October '20 Release.

Prior to skills profiles, many organizations faced challenges in setting up, maintaining, and scaling organizational competencies, investing hundreds of hours defining the relevant skills for each job in their organization while employees had to manually add skills to their Universal Profile. Getting employees to fill out their Universal Profile with skills and competencies was often a struggle. Gathering feedback on skills was laborious and administrator-driven. There was a need for an accurate way to identify the talent landscape.

With the Capabilities Library and Skills Profiles:

  • Organizations have access to over 53,000 skills that they may be used in their portal.
  • Cornerstone's AI-powered Skills Engine automatically imports skills into the Capabilities Library. (Administrators have the ability to screen skills before they are published for employees to see.)
  • Cornerstone's AI-powered Skills Engine automatically associates relevant skills to each employee job title using data collected from over 250 million profiles worldwide, across all industries and organization sizes.
  • Employees can declare which skills they currently have, which skills they want to further develop, and which ones they would like to ignore. (Employees are given a jump start with automatically suggested skills they can declare and the ability to view full skill descriptions.)
  • Employees can also self-rate their proficiency, interest, and enjoyment for specific skills, and receive skill proficiency ratings from their peers.
  • Organizations can continue to use their internally defined skills and competencies in addition to the skills from Cornerstone's Taxonomy.
  • Organizations should experience a faster implementation time to get their capabilities library up and running.
STS Authentication End-Of-Life to Occur With The February '21 Release Yes Cornerstone's legacy API authentication framework for APIs, Session Token Service (STS), is scheduled for end-of-life which is targeted to occur with the February '21 Release.

  • Allow contingent workers to sync into Cornerstone on their hire date or one week prior to their hire date, depending on the defined setup on the Settings page.
  • If Job Family Group is not used in Workday, the integration now prevents parent position OUs from being deactivated if it has at least one active child position OU.
  • Validation checks are no longer performed on inactive users; in the email log, inactive users are flagged as "Skipped."

In many cases, this external browser will be Safari or Chrome. This added flexibility allows the Learn app to seamlessly launch many more courses, which may open in multiple windows or tabs.

This enhancement has been delayed to a post-release patch.

Cornerstone Learn - Mobile QR Codes for ILT Session Attendance Yes, with app update With the October ’20 Release, Learning QR code generation and scanning capabilities are available for the Learn app. Administrators can configure instructor-led training (ILT) sessions to support QR code functionality for easy session attendance tracking. Using QR codes for ILT session attendance streamlines attendance tracking for large sessions and reduces the administrative burden associated with manually managing attendance for large quantities of in-person ILT sessions.
Cornerstone Learn - Offline Materials Yes, with app update

With this enhancement, users of the Learn app can also download mobile-enabled materials that have been configured for offline use. These downloaded material training items can then be launched offline and consumed, and users can mark them complete once the internet connection is restored.

Cornerstone Learn - Picture in Picture (PIP) Support (Android) Yes, with app update With this enhancement, Android users can initiate Picture In Picture (PIP) when viewing video training items by tapping the Home button on their Android device. Cornerstone Learn - Training Push Notifications Yes, with app update

With this enhancement, five training push notifications have been enabled for both the Android and iOS versions of the Cornerstone Learn app, along with deeplinking capabilities which take the user to the relevant application area upon tapping the notification banner. Cornerstone Learn - UX Enhancements for Android Yes, with app update

A circular user profile icon will be implemented in the upper right-hand corner of the top app bar, replacing the Search icon. Settings, Log Out, Forget Me, and QR Code functionality will reside under this new user profile.

The Transcript, Downloads, and Approvals links will be migrated from the navigation drawer to tappable icons within a fixed bottom navigation bar. Additionally, this bottom navigation bar will contain a Home icon and a Search icon, allowing all the main Learn app features to be easily accessible from any app page with a single tap.

The navigation drawer will be renamed “Links,” and repositioned to the right side of the top app bar. It will continue to house any configured custom links, as well as the Give Feedback link.

This enhancement will be made available during a post-release patch. More details about these app updates will be made available in Release Notes at that time. This enhancement is not available during UAT.

Curriculum Versioning Enhancements Auto-Upgrade Yes

With the February 2020 release, numerous curriculum versioning enhancements were made available via self-activation in Production portals.

With the October 2020 release, all portals that have not manually activated these curriculum versioning enhancements will be auto-upgraded. It is strongly recommended that your organization test these enhancements in Stage prior to the auto-upgrade in October 2020.

Deep Links Enhancements Yes With this enhancement, deep links for the Register User and Launch Training action and the Launch Training action stay the same even when the training is versioned. When the learner clicks a deep link, they will be navigated to the most recent version of the training unless they already have any version of the training on their transcript. In this case, learners will be taken to the version of training that is on their transcript.
Deprecation of Browse for Training with the April '21 Release Yes

With the October ’20 Release, Cornerstone is ending support for Browse for Training and support for defects related to Browse for Training will stop at this time.

With the April ’21 Release, the deprecation of Browse for Training will be complete, and Browse for Training will no longer be accessible in all portal. Organizations are encouraged to adopt the machine learning-powered Learner Home and Learning Search pages as soon as possible.

DLW is a legacy data load tool which was built on older technology, is accessed using an older user interface (UI), and experiences slow performance and limited load type support.

It is being replaced by the new Learning Assignment API. The Proxy Enrollment API end-of-life is targeted to occur with the Feb 2021 Release.

Disabling the Provider field for subscription content prevents future misalignment between subscription providers and subscription courses.
"Price Visible" Preference Moved to Learning Details Preferences Yes

With this enhancement, the Price and Training Units visibility setting has been moved from the Content Requesting Preferences page to the new Page Display section of the Learning Details Preferences page. This setting still controls price visibility on both the legacy and redesigned Learning Details pages. In addition, an Only Display when Value is Greater than Zero sub-option is available, allowing administrators to determine whether a price displays for training items with no cost.

vILT Connector Enhancements (Early Adopter) Enable integration via Edge

  • Support for canceling sessions and multi-part sessions through the vILT connector (sessions canceled via the Learning Management System (LMS) are automatically canceled in the vILT connector as well)

Performance Features

Feature Name Automatically Enabled? Description
Ability to Cancel Goals via Goals API Yes, for clients that have purchased the Cornerstone Foundational APIs in Edge.

With this enhancement, the Goals API is updated with the ability to Cancel Goals.

This enhancement applies to the Goals API when used with Careers and Performance.

This functionality was released with the 25 September 2020 patch.

Employee Compensation for Salary Records No

With the October ’20 Release, Cornerstone is introducing the new Employee Compensation for administrators. In this release,

Employee Compensation is the central hub for administrators to view salary history for each employee.

Recruiting Features

Feature Name Automatically Enabled? Description
Applicant Profile Performance Enhancement Yes

Prior to this enhancement, a user may have experienced a long load time when accessing the Applicant Profile Summary tab for a candidate in a child requisition whose parent requisition had a large number of candidates. This delay was the result of an extra check that was done to determine whether to display the Parent Requisition on the Summary tab. This check was done so the title of the parent requisition would only display if the user had access to the parent requisition.

As this data is not sensitive, Cornerstone has removed the access check so that the parent requisition title is displayed in all cases, which should improve the performance of the page. The parent requisition is not a clickable link so the existing functionality to prevent users without access from seeing the parent requisition will still be in place.

Back-End Optimizations to Recruiting Searches Yes

Beginning in September 2020, Cornerstone will begin back-end optimizations to improve recruiting searches. No changes to job search features should be observed by administrators or end-users. Search querying should match the existing experience. Searches will yield the same results; however, the order in which results are displayed may change due to improved relevance scoring.

Candidate API (Early Adopter) Yes

Cornerstone's new Candidate APIs provide the ability to get a requisition's full application workflow, including prescreening and compliance questions, disclaimers, notes, and attachments, and then create an application and candidate in your Cornerstone portal. Applications can be posted in a complete or incomplete status. If incomplete, recruiters can invite candidates to finish their application within Cornerstones.

As part of this Early Adopter release, Cornerstone is introducing two new endpoints:

  • Get Application Workflow - This endpoint retrieves a requisition’s full application workflow, including action items that were previously irretrievable via the legacy Job Application API like Prescreening questions, compliance questions, disclaimers, and notes.
  • Post Candidate and application - This endpoint posts a candidate and application to your Cornerstone portal.

This enhancement is available in a post-release patch.

Deprecation of Hiring Manager Shortlist with the April '21 Release Yes

With the April ’21 Release, the Hiring Manager Shortlist will be deprecated in all portals. Hiring Manager Shortlist is an opt-in/by request-only feature that automatically shares candidates with hiring managers when the candidate enters the "In Review" status.

Deprecation of Manage Applicants with the April '21 Release Yes As first announced in the May '20 release, when the Applicants count is selected in Stage environments from Manage Requisitions, users are redirected to a filtered view of the Manage Candidates page specific to the relevant requisition instead of Manage Applicants.
Internal Career Site (Early Adopter) - Email Referrals Yes (Internal Career Site must be self-enabled in Feature Activation Preferences)

With this enhancement, jobs can now be referred and tracked on the internal career site.

New Email Tag for "Interview Scheduling Notification - Applicant" Email Yes

With this enhancement, a new APPLICANT.SCHEDULE.SUMMARY.NO.JOB.TITLE email tag is added to the Interview Scheduling Notification - Applicant email. When included in the email, the message does not display the job title of any of the interviewers but still includes the interview details. This allows recruiters to provide their applicants all the necessary information about the interview without displaying sensitive data about the interviewers.

This feature was previously released in the 11 September 2020 patch.

Request Candidate Feedback - Candidate Review Cohort UI Enhancement Yes With this enhancement, the user interface (UI) for the candidate review cohort page is updated to match the color scheme and features of the applicant carousel, which was updated as part of the August '20 release.
