Learner Home - Skills Carousels

Prior to this enhancement, the Cornerstone Learning Management System (LMS) had various ways for learners to add the skills they were interested in developing and skills critical to success in their role. However, the learners had to dig into their profiles or conduct searches to view training related to these skills.

With this enhancement, Learner Home now includes two new skills carousels that help learners view and access training related to their skills directly on Learner Home. It displays content tagged to skills in a learner’s skills profile. The skills carousels update based on data from the learner’s skills profile. It helps learners optimize their skills and the skills they want to develop.

The two new carousels that are available to be configured to Learner Home are:​

  • Based on Skills You Want to Develop​
  • Based on Your Critical Skills

Configuration of Skills Carousels​ in Learner Home

The new skills carousels are disabled by default. An administrator can customize the configuration and add or remove the carousels at any time. To enable the skills carousels, go to Admin > Preferences > Learner Home Preferences > Scroll to Content Arrangement. Under the Based on Skills You Want to Develop and Based on Your Critical Skills section, click Disabled to activate the skills carousels.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

There are a few reasons why the Skills Carousels may not show on Learning Home. Either no content is available to that user that has been tagged with the relevant Skills, the user has not added skills to Critical Skills or Skills I want to Develop portion of the Skills Profile or no content has been tagged with skills.

Skills tagging refers to adding Skills to the catalog's content. Skills tagging can be done through automated Skills tagging or Edge Import. For more information, See Capabilities Preferences - Content Skills Tagging.See Training Capabilities - Content Skills Tagging.

Yes. Please allow up to 30 minutes for each carousel to update if changes are made in the skills profile or if data is changed in the catalog.

Implementation

This functionality is available for all organizations using the Learning module. Enablement is required through Learner Home Preferences.

Permissions

The following existing permissions apply to this functionality:

Learner Home Preferences Grants access to the Learner Home Preferences, where the administrator can configure the arrangement of content on Learner Home, as well as other settings. This permission also grants access to the Learning Search Preferences page, where the administrator can configure Learning Search options.
