People Matrix - Usability Enhancements

People Matrix is enhanced to make it easier to see actionable data and lessen maintenance efforts. Users can spend less time hunting for critical data and keeping matrices up-to-date.

The following usability enhancements have been made to the People Matrix functionality:

  • People Matrix Settings - Administrators gain the ability to enable and disable the use of training and capability models. See People Matrix Settings.
  • Create Custom Matrices from Capability Models - Create relevant and consistent Custom Matrices using organizational Capability Models as the starting point. Customize the matrix by adding additional metrics and users not usually tracked by the model. See Create Custom Matrices from Capability Models.
  • New Matrix Setting to Track the Latest Version of Training - When training is versioned, there is no need to revise the training list. This saves time and effort because the matrix is always up to date. See New Matrix Setting to Track the Latest Version of Training.
  • See Summary of Skill Gaps - Actionable insight to help managers pinpoint where to spend time helping their teams grow. Can display skills and training gaps based on training and skills tracked in the matrix. See Summary of Skill Gaps.

Considerations

The Track Latest Version of Training option is an optional field that applies to all selected training. When this option is selected, the matrix is only updated if the training is reversioned and assigned to users. If the training is versioned but not assigned to the user, then the matrix is not updated. As a result, if training is reversioned and only assigned to some users, the matrix could include a user on target for completing version 1 of the training and another user off target for not completing version 2 of the same training.

The following considerations apply to the Create Custom Matrices from Capability Models feature:

  • Currently, there are no availability rules for capability models, meaning that models are available to all users. However, user constraints and the Audience setting are still applicable.
  • Users can add multiple models, and the skills from all included models will be listed in alphabetical order. In a future release, skills may be grouped by model when multiple models are added.
  • If a skill is present in multiple models, the Capability Model column displays the most recently added model.
  • The skills and targets used in the matrix are specific to the time when the matrix was created. If the model is updated, the matrix will not automatically update.

Implementation

This functionality is automatically enabled for all organizations.
