The following new features and enhancements are available for the August '18 release:

Compensation Features

Edge Import - Employee Salary Load Yes Previously released as an Early Adopter, the Edge Import Employee Salary Load is ready for General Availability with the August ’18 Release. The Edge Import Employee Salary Load provides clients with the ability to load employee salary data even if it includes custom wage types. Employee Salary Management Modification History, when enabled in a portal, is also updated using the Edge Import load. Both of these functions are not possible when using the Data Load Wizard (DLW). Cornerstone HR clients will also be able to report on updates to the Employee Salary Management Modification History using the User Audit Report - Detailed standard report.
Non-Monetary Components Yes With this enhancement, organizations can now create components that are not associated with a currency to use as a multiplier or other value in formulas and conditions.

Core Features

Akamai Video Player Upgrade Yes With this enhancement, the Akamai video player that is used in the system is upgraded to the latest Akamai version, which includes several fixes to improve the user experience when playing videos in the video player. This is a minor video player upgrade from Akamai with a focus on fixing browser issues. No major video formatting adjustments are included in this upgrade.
Data Load Wizard (DLW) Salary Load Deprecation for October '18 N/A Following the October ‘18 Release, Cornerstone will remove the option to load Compensation data via the Data Load Wizard (DLW). Email Administration Multi-Language Support Yes With this enhancement, one email template can support multiple language versions, reducing the number of email templates needed and the time to maintain them. The Email Administration page and email template pages are updated to support this enhancement. In addition, a Modification History section is displayed when editing an email template. Also, breadcrumbs are now available on the Email Administration and Create New Email pages.
FTP Password Reset Modification History Yes With this enhancement, FTP password reset modification history is visible to administrators via a new View Modification History page that is mobile-friendly. From here, administrators can access the modification history of each FTP account that is associated with the portal. The page is accessed using a new Modification History link which is added to the Options drop-down next to each FTP account.
Google Tag Manager Integration No With this enhancement, organizations can use the Google Tag Manager integration to deploy code snippets at their own convenience, without the intervention of Cornerstone's development or services teams. The Google Tag Manager tool is separate from Google Analytics and can be used to set up code from any provider or source. Once the integration has been enabled in the Cornerstone system, administrators can add code snippets to system pages and track user behavior on those pages using the features available.
Portal Security – WYSIWYG HTML Editor  

As part of Cornerstone’s ongoing commitment to client data security and a consistent user experience, we are strengthening the security in certain parts of the system where our WYSIWYG HTML editor is in use (e.g. Custom Pages, Welcome Pages, Description of Events, etc).

If you have not requested to allow HTML tags, CSS, JavaScript, etc on your portal, you may see that some parts of the system no longer allow unsafe elements. You can opt out of this security measure by logging a case with Global Customer Support to enable bypass XSS validation. By bypassing this validation, Cornerstone will require you to agree to the security risk exposure this may cause.

Reporting 2.0 (Early Adopter) Yes, after enabling Reporting 2.0

New features/enhancements will be available in Stage with the 19 July Stage Deployment.

In addition to smaller enhancements, the following highlighted features are available with the August '18 release:

  • Extended Enterprise is now supported (support for Learning, Recruiting, and Performance was introduced as part of previous releases).
  • Charting is now supported.
  • Data Mapping is now supported.
  • A permission to control downloads is added.
  • A "Does not contain" operator is added.
RTDW Updates to Reporting API, RDW, and Data Explorer   Impacting only clients using Reporting API, Replicated Data Warehouse, and Data Exporter, several Real-Time Data Warehouse categories will be impacted or deprecated, and the updates made may break applications, scripts, or functionality based on earlier versions of RTDW objects.
UltiPro Core Data Inbound Integration Enhancements (Early Adopter) Enable via Edge With this enhancement, organizations that are using the Ultimate UltiPro Core Data Inbound Integration can now specify the Tenant URL, which enables the organization to specify the correct UltiPro environment for the data sync, such as Production or Pilot. In addition, the default language preference that is set in UltiPro is now passed to Cornerstone, which is used when a user is created in Cornerstone; if the user's language is later updated in Cornerstone, the default language does not overwrite the user's new language setting. If the UltiPro default language preference is not available or enabled in Cornerstone, then the Cornerstone portal default language is used for the user. Lastly, when Cornerstone sends a summary email to the UltiPro integration contact, the email now specifies the environment in the email subject.
UltiPro Single Sign-On (SSO) Enable via Edge The UltiPro Single Sign-On integration allows organizations to provide a seamless experience to their employees via Single Sign-On (SSO). Simply set up an outbound data feed from your Cornerstone portal to Kronos and enable this integratino to allow your employees to log in to UltiPro.

Cornerstone HR

Custom Reports - Cornerstone HR Fields N/A With this change, the User Audits section and Reason for Change section of the custom User Report are disabled and will no longer display in custom reporting.
e-days Absence Management - View Entitlement Balance and Absence History Enable via Edge Elements of this enhancement will be made available with future patches.

With this enhancement, the e-days Absence Management integration is enhanced. Organizations who use e-days for absence management can now leverage this integration to enable users to quickly view their entitlement balances via a new My Absence Home dashboard. This new dashboard is located within Universal Profile.

Currently, this integration enables users to view their entitlement balances. In a post-release patch, this integration will enable users to view their request history and use single sign-on functionality to request absences from the My Absence Home page.

Form Approval Workflow - Approve by Group or Organizational Unit (OU) Yes

This functionality will be available in Production and Pilot on July 20.

With this enhancement, organizations can add a group or organizational unit (OU) to a form approval workflow. This enables more powerful employee and manager self-service capabilities through enhanced workflow configuration, which frees administrator time to work on other priorities.

  • The API validates Short Textbox type custom field values to ensure the character limit is not exceeded
  • Video learning objects (LOs) are now supported by the API

Learning on Workplace by Facebook Integration Enable via Edge With this enhancement, the Learning on Workplace by Facebook integration is available in the Edge Marketplace, making it possible for organizations to allow their learners to view and access learning playlists via Workplace, as well as allow playlist creators to post and share their playlists on Workplace. The Learning on Workplace by Facebook integration allows organizations to leverage Facebook's community functionality to encourage consumption of learning playlists within the learning management system (LMS).
LinkedIn Learning Integration Enable via Edge

With this enhancement, a LinkedIn Learning integration will be available, allowing LinkedIn Learning content to be synchronized with the Learning Management System (LMS). Learners can launch LinkedIn Learning content from the LMS or their LinkedIn portal and have their progress tracked in their LMS transcripts.

Reporting API Enhancements Yes

The following enhancements have been made to the reporting API:

  • Record Count Field added to API response
  • Page logic has been optimized
  • Indexing is applied to commonly used columns

Workday Core Data Inbound Integration Enable via Edge This enhancement will be released as part of a post-release patch. Additional information will be released in the corresponding patch release notes.

The new Workday Core Data Sync integration is for clients using Workday as the source for their HCM data. Using the integration allows changes in Workday to employee and corresponding OU records to flow in Cornerstone automatically. The inbound integration runs nightly (PST) and can be triggered on demand.

Engage Features

Custom Reports - Engage Yes With this minor enhancement, the Question Type field in the Engage Response custom report type returns output values which are more consistent with the language used in the Engage product, improving the clarity of the Engage Response custom report output.
Custom Scale (Likert) Question Type Yes

With this enhancement, a new Scale question type is available, and administrators have access to the following options when configuring a Scale type question:

  • Administrators can choose a custom point scale from three-point to seven-point
  • Likert scale responses can be text-only or numeric-only, if needed
  • Point scales can be associated with emoticons and text, if needed
  • Aggregated results for question responses display in the Engage dashboard
Manager Filter Settings Yes

With this enhancement, the following features are available:

  • Direct Reports Only toggle switch - This option allows Engage administrators to choose whether scoring is aggregated based on the manager's self, direct reports, and indirect reports, or calculated solely based on direct report feedback.
  • Show Inactive Managers toggle switch - This option allows Engage administrators to either view data for just active managers or all managers, including active and inactive managers.
Manager Hierarchy View Yes As of the June 1, 2018 patch, users with the appropriate permission can view Engage results by manager, filter for specific managers, compare multiple managers within a team, and traverse the reporting hierarchy to discover areas of opportunity within the organization.

Extended Enterprise Features

Learning Features

Auto Upgrade to Content Publishing Redesign with Online Course Versioning in 2019  

In 2019, Cornerstone will retire the Course Publisher, and all portals will be automatically upgraded to the Content Uploader with Online Course Versioning, which was made generally available during the October '17 release. The exact date of the automatic upgrade is yet to be determined, but is being announced far in advance to provide administrators with sufficient time to plan for the change.

Activating the new Content Uploader and Online Course Versioning functionality remains optional until 2019. When Course Publisher is retired, it will no longer be accessible in the system.

Constraint Logic Updates to Curriculum and Course Catalog “View” and ”Manage” Permissions Yes With this enhancement, adding an OU constraint and a provider constraint to curricula and Course Catalog administrator permissions results in an "AND" statement. This means administrators with these permissions will only be able to see training created by a user in their OU and also associated with the constrained provider. This is consistent with how other Learning Administration permissions function.
Copy Training Purpose During Material and Curriculum Versioning Yes

With this enhancement, when a training purpose is associated with the previous curriculum or material version, the training purpose is included with users' new version of the training on their transcripts, and the training purpose is also attached to the new version of the training in the Course Catalog.

Cornerstone Learn Mobile App  

With this enhancement, a state-of-the art new Cornerstone Learn app is available for learners with Android devices. The Cornerstone Learn app provides learners with a fast, modern, and intuitive mobile learning experience.

Using the Cornerstone Learn app, mobile learners can interact with the following learning features:

  • Learner Home
  • Learning Search
  • Learning Transcript

Document Management System (DMS) Material Versioning Service No

Document management systems (DMS) are electronic systems designed to manage, store, distribute, and archive documents. A DMS material versioning service can be used to create and version material learning objects (LOs) in the learning management system (LMS), with links to those documents stored in the DMS, allowing learners to access DMS resources as material LOs in the LMS via URL links.

A beta version of the DMS service was released in July 2016, and this service was enhanced for the May 2018 release and June 29 patch.

The DMS material versioning service, with the enhancements documented in the below section, is generally available to organizations using the Learning module with the June 29, 2018 patch.

Enforce Prerequisites for Learning Assignment Tool Yes

With this enhancement, administrators can configure learning assignments to obey prerequisite requirements, both globally and at the individual assignment level. When the preference to enforce prerequisites is enabled, learning assignments will not assign training to users who do not meet the prerequisite requirements, but if the assignment is dynamic and the user later fulfills the prerequisite requirements, they will be assigned the training the next time the dynamic assignment processes.

With this enhancement, all of the following custom field types can be audited:

GoToMeeting vILT Integration Upgrade No

With this enhancement, the GoToMeeting vILT integration enforces upgraded OAuth 2.0 security protocol, and updates are required in order to continue using the GoToMeeting vILT integration.

On August 14, 2018, GoToMeeting will enforce a strictly OAuth 2.0 security protocol. Between August 4 - 14, organizations must add their GoToMeeting Consumer Secret key to the Citrix Preferences page in the learning management system (LMS).

Learner Home Enhancements Yes

With this enhancement, the following updates have been made to Learner Home functionality:

  • A Playlists for [User] carousel can be configured to display on Learner Home
  • Learner Home can be configured to only display training recommendations for training available in the user's display language
  • A user-defined language filter is available on the Learner Home page
  • Administrators can determine how training hours are calculated on Learner Home
  • Links associated with banners in the Custom Banner carousel can be configured as fully clickable, rather than clickable only from a button with limited customization options
  • The Learning Search page can be made accessible separately from Learner Home, via a link in navigation tabs
Learning on Workplace by Facebook Enable via Edge

With this enhancement, the Learning on Workplace by Facebook integration is available in the Edge Marketplace, making it possible for organizations to allow their learners to view and access learning playlists via Workplace, as well as allow playlist creators to post and share their playlists on Workplace. With this enhancement, the following new abilities are available when using playlists:

  • Playlists can be copied
  • Additional playlist reporting fields are available
  • A Playlists for [User] carousel can be configured to display on Learner Home
  • The playlist creator and provider can be modified from the Course Console page
  • Default providers can be set for playlists and playlist external content
LinkedIn Learning Integration Enable via Edge

With this enhancement, a LinkedIn Learning integration will be available, allowing LinkedIn Learning content to be synchronized with the Learning Management System (LMS). Learners can launch LinkedIn Learning content from the LMS or their LinkedIn portal and have their progress tracked in their LMS transcripts.

Mobile Enabled Icon Yes With this enhancement, a Mobile-Enabled icon displays next to mobile-enabled training tiles in the app, allowing learners to quickly determine which training they can complete using the Cornerstone Learn app.
Notifications for New Online Course Version Yes

With this enhancement, notifications can appear to users while they are viewing an online course if a new version of the course is assigned to them during that time. This allows the user to stop spending time on a course version that will not give them completion credit and access the new version of the course immediately.

On Hold and Reinstate for Certifications Yes With this enhancement, certification owners can place a user's certification on hold and then reinstate the certification when the user has met the certification requirements. This allows learners to be in a non-certified status without removing their certification progress and forcing them to restart their certification process.
"Past Due" Learning Enhancements Yes

With this enhancement, if a user has two or more different due dates for the same training, with one instance past due and another due in the future, the Nightly Past Due process changes the statuses of both instances of training to Past Due. Also, the learner can access an icon which displays the earliest due date for a training item when multiple instances of the training exist on the transcript, and one instance is past due but the due date for another instance has not yet been reached.

Restore Completion Ability for Removed Training when Reassigned within Curriculum Yes

Following this enhancement, when an administrator assigns a curriculum containing an LO that was previously removed from the user's transcript, the user will be able to launch AND complete the LO from within the curriculum. The new assignment will automatically remove the Removed flag from the LO on the backend.

SF-182 Training - Mark Complete  

With this enhancement, managers with the permission to mark training complete can mark an SF-182 external training request complete from a user's transcript, similar to the existing process for marking external training complete.

Test Question Lockdown Yes

With this enhancement, a new preference setting is available, which allows organizations to lock test questions that have been administered as part of a test and prevent them from being edited by system administrators. This allows organizations to better ensure compliance when using Test Engine functionality.

Training Removal Tool - Pagination Added When Searching for Sessions  

This enhancement has been removed from the August 2018 release.

Training Search Unification Yes

With this enhancement, administrators can enable the Learning Search engine for Global Search, if desired. If the Learning Search engine is enabled for Global Search, users' experiences when using Global Search and Learning Search will be more consistent. In addition, a scroll bar has been added to the Subjects filter section on the Learning Search page, allowing users to scroll through all available subject filters instead of being limited to ten.

Custom Reports - Development Plan Fields Yes, with Redesigned Development Plans For organizations that are using the redesigned Development Plans functionality, a new Dev Plan Comments section is now available when creating a Development Plan custom report. In addition, a new field is added to the Dev Plan section when creating a Development Plan custom report. These fields are not available for multi-module reports.
Development Plans Redesign Enhancements No, enabled via Corporate Preferences

With this enhancement, the Development Plans Redesign functionality is now generally available. In addition, the following enhancements have been made to the functionality:

  • Modification history is now available for development plans.
  • A new permission enables organizations to control who can edit development plans.
  • Reporting is available for development plan comments.
  • The ability to edit a completed development plans may be enabled.
  • Users can add recommended training by competency models.
  • The user experience is improved to prevent accidental data loss.
  • The Snapshot Development Plans page is enhanced to improve usability.
  • Administrators can now localize development plan actions within a development plan template.
  • New email triggers are available for Development Plan Edited and Development Plan Comment Added.
  • Approvers can now click a development plan title on the Approval page which opens the development plan in a new browser tab.
  • The newest version of a training item is utilized in the development plan.
  • Training item statuses more consistently match the training status on the user's transcript.
  • The actions that are available for training items now match what is available on the user's transcript.
  • Users can now print their plan.
Goal Enhancements Yes Enhancements have been made to the Goals functionality to improve accuracy in reporting and improve translation.
Performance Review Enhancements Yes Enhancements have been made to the Performance Reviews functionality to provide support for rehire functionality and improve usability.
Universal Profile (UP): Mobile-Friendly Feedback Yes With this enhancement, the Universal Profile Feedback functionality is now mobile-friendly for ease of use on all devices. This enables users to give or receive feedback anywhere on any device.

Background Check Custom Connector Enhancements Yes With this enhancement, the Cornerstone system is able to send additional job requisition and user data fields to background check vendors with the initial background check request.
Duplicate Phone Number Check Enhancement Yes

This enhancement was released as part of the 29 June 2018 Patch Release.

With this enhancement, duplicate profiles will no longer be created on career sites when an applicant's phone number has the same numerals as a phone number that is already associated with a profile.

 

GDPR - Recruiting Available via work order to Global Customer Support

This enhancement was released as part of the 1 June 2018 patch release.

With this enhancement, clients can anonymize applicant data on an ad hoc basis outside of the specified compliance settings timeframe and without forcing a candidate to log in to their profile to anonymize their own data.

Manage Candidates - Applicant Flags Yes, after self-enabling Manage Candidates via Feature Activation Preferences With this enhancement, an Applicant Flags column is added to Manage Candidates. Recruiters can view, add, and edit flags for candidates in bulk or one at a time, as well as filer candidates by flags. When looking at multiple candidates across multiple requisitions, administrators can quickly select candidates and add the same of different flag to all of them. Administrators can even add multiple flags and delete existing ones from the same flyout for an efficient, simplified experience.
Manage Candidates - Resume Carousel Yes, after self-enabling Manage Candidates via Feature Activation Preferences With this enhancement, a resume carousel is added to Manage Candidates. Manage Candidates – Suggested Actions Yes, after self-enabling Manage Candidates via Feature Activation Preferences With this enhancement, a Suggested Actions feature is added to Manage Candidates to show recruiters exactly what action they should take next for each candidate based on the candidate's current status and the activities that have been performed in that status. The suggested action is clickable and opens right to the area of Recruiting that lets you perform the action.

The following usability enhancements are added to Manage Candidates (Early Adopter):

  • Disposition all remaining candidates when you have filled all openings for a requisition.
  • View candidate's position and company in the Candidate column.

Modular Offer Letters No, enable via Feature Activation Preferences The Modular Offer Letters functionality is a simplified approach to offer letters, providing a new user interface (UI) for creating both templates and offer letters. Administrators can create custom snippets of text and add the sections to templates. This lets recruiters pick and choose relevant content when creating offer letters and provides pre-formatted content to suit unique scenarios and serve general offer letter needs.
Permanent Access to External Application Yes

When an applicant applies to a requisition and gets hired, their external application will continue to be accessible on their applicant profile. Previously, when clients had different application workflows for internal and external candidates, once an external applicant's status was changed to "hired," their external application would not be accessible on their applicant profile. Now, when an external candidate is marked "hired," and there are different workflows for internal and external candidates, recruiters will continue to see the candidate's initial application workflow in their profile. Recruiting clients who have separate workflows for internal and external applicants will benefit from this change.

Requisition Posted to Agency Email Trigger Yes With this enhancement, a Requisition Posted to Agency email is added to the Recruitment section of Email Administration. This email notifies recruiting agencies that a new requisition has been posted.
Retirement of Apply with LinkedIn 1.0   LinkedIn is sun-setting their current version of Apply with LinkedIn by the end of 2018. Clients who have a LinkedIn Recruiter contract, or a LinkedIn corporate account with active LinkedIn job slots, can leverage the new Apply with LinkedIn 2.0. The new Apply with LinkedIn 2.0 will only be supported on mobile friendly workflows.
Retirement of Mobile Optimized Career Site Support (October '18 Release)  

This is a change from the previously announced August ’18 Release retirement date.

Following the October ’18 Release, Cornerstone will remove the option “Enable Mobile Site” from the Standard Career Site. To create a mobile supported career site after the October ’18 Release, clients will need to create a Mobile-Friendly Career Site on the Career Site Management page. Mobile optimized career sites created prior to the October ’18 Release will be able to continue to be used, but Cornerstone will no longer support fixing defects for mobile optimized career sites and when copied, “Enable Mobile Site” will no longer be an option.

Talent Pool Support for Redesigned Development Plans Yes With this enhancement, the workflow is enhanced when using the redesigned development plans functionality. The manager can preview the development plan template prior to assigning it to ensure that the correct template is selected. In addition, the system confirms that all of the selected users are within the manager's permission to create and assign a development plan, and all of the selected users are automatically added to the Assignment section of the development plan. If a manager does not have permission to create a development plan for a particular user, the Assign Development Plan option does not appear in the drop-down menu for that user.
Org Chart - Add Org Chart Full Screen Mode Yes With this enhancement, updates are made to the Org Chart page to make the page visible in full screen and to put the page title, tab navigation, and search bar on the save level.
