Modify Content - Reduce Processing Time In Upload​

Prior to this enhancement, uploading files on Course Console via the Modify Content tool involved redundant validations on the uploaded files' texts, causing a continuous warning message “Changing HTML/JS/SWF files might cause issues while playing the course” and a delay in upload processing time, sometimes resulting in timeout.

With this enhancement, uploading files via the Modify Content tool takes less processing time as the validation checks and the warning message “Changing HTML/JS/SWF files might cause issues while playing the course” have been removed. One of the validations in Modify Content would go over each HTML, JavaScript, and SWF file in the uploaded package and check for changes in the text of the file.
This validation takes a lot of time as out of 300 files, only one could have been changed, but still, all 300 would be checked.
Modification History will still display the updated files.
The warning “Changing HTML/JS/SWF files might cause issues while playing the course” will no longer be displayed in Modify Content as the warning notifies the admin that a file in the package has been changed, as all Modify Content actions intend to modify files, such an error is not valuable and causes admins to assume an error has occurred.

This functionality is automatically enabled for all organizations using the Learning module.

Permissions

The following existing permissions apply to this functionality:

Course Catalog - Update

Grants ability to manage and edit training items listed in the Course Catalog and also grants access to the Course Console, where training can also be managed and edited. This permission also grants access to the Popular Requests and Highest Rated widgets on the Learning Admin Console (in conjunction with the Learning Admin Console - View permission). This permission also allows administrators to reversion online courses via the Course Console page. This permission also allows administrators to access an Edit Training option for training items included as objectives in Development plans.

This permission can be constrained by OU, User's OU, Training Type, Training Item, Provider, ILT Provider, User's ILT Provider, User, User Self and Subordinates, and User's LO Availability. This is an administrator permission.

Note: Adding an OU constraint and a provider constraint to this permission results in an "AND" statement.
