Required Training - Training Models (Open Beta)
Required Training Tagging Phase 1 was released as Early Adopter in March 2024. “Required” Training Models are part of Phase 2 of the project. With this BETA, we release the end-to-end process of the Training Models. In November 2024, we will release the first items of the Qualification view for learners and managers, which includes the integration with the People Matrix. Training Models will change the way we handle Role, Position, and Task-based training assignments. They will bring us Training matrix capabilities and a completely new way for learners, managers, and any persona in the organization to follow the level of Qualification or “Fit to operate.”
Managing Role-based training requirements can be very time-consuming and requires combining various areas of the system. To have the right set-up, the admin needs a very good understanding of the system and must follow very detailed instructions. The Role-based assignments need to be very specific and done securely. Admins spend a lot of time setting up and maintaining role, task, or position-based training requirements.
Managing role-based training requirements and assignments in a streamlined process via Training Models reduces administrative work and overlapping assignments. It provides better insight for training administrators and the compliance organization in setting up and maintaining training requirements.
Required Training Models
The “Required” Training Models will help organizations streamline processes and facilitate the delivery of task, role, and position-based training at a scale. This will reduce the administrative workload of maintaining constantly changing training requirements and the necessary adjustments to learning assignments.
The key features of Required Training Models are:
- Ability to create “Required” Training Models
- Ability to Save “Draft” of Training Models
- Ability to Publish Training Models with an immediate or future date
- Ability to edit Training Models, adjust content and assignment settings
How Does this Enhancement Benefit My Organization?
- Easier bundling of Training Requirements.
- Reduction of administrator work to create and maintain task, role, or position-based assignments.
- The administrator has fewer big curricula and overlaps to manage.
- Provides a clear insight into what is required and for whom it is required.
- You can review and co-work on the training requirements set up with the training admins.
- There are fewer big curricula to manage on their transcript.
Considerations
- Training Model end-to-end process requires “Required Training Tagging” to be enabled and Requirements need to be created.
- With the July 2024 release, we bring an early stage of the Training Models, and we cover just a few standard end-to-end processes:
- The creation of a Training Model up to save draft
- Training Model Publishing
- Training Model Edit of General information and Localization
- Training Model Add and Remove Training
- Training Model set End Date
- Training Model Assigned To
- Exclusions: A lot is still to come in the subsequent two releases.
- “Required” Training Models is the second block of our larger Required Training Project. More information on this project can be found in the Client Success Center > Cornerstone Beta Community > Learning > Required Training Project (Open Beta) From March 24 and beyond.
- Training Models do not replace Curricula or Certifications.
- Required Training Tagging via Training Models only impacts the learner’s transcript via the Learning Assignment linked to the Training Model. Meaning the training is assigned as required.
- Our goal is to complete the full Required Training Project by March 2025. Once this is achieved, the Required Training Tagging and Training Models will be activated by default for all clients.

Training Models will have a Qualified status moving forward. This will allow us to clearly state if a user is qualified or not in the future. We are working out the Qualification rules, including some validity and re-qualification rules.

No, only the Training in the Training Model does. For the Training Models, we will create a new experience focusing on “Compliance” for Learners and Managers.

The Training Model creates its own Dynamic Assignment. The setup is such that we are making sure the learner gets the right training at the right time and that he does not need to retake training, which should not be needed by applying “Maintain Progress.”
