Check-Ins Usability Enhancements

With this enhancement, Check-Ins made several changes to improve usability.

Enable/Disable Personal Notes

Prior to this enhancement, the Personal Notes feature was enabled by default for all organizations. With this release, System administrators with the Check-Ins Settings - Manage permission can enable or disable Personal Notes.

To access Check-Ins Settings, go to Admin > Performance Management > Check-Ins Settings and enable Check-Ins Personal Notes.

Updated Empty State

On the Check-Ins Home Page, the notification feed's empty state has been revised to remove the duplicate Create new check-in button and display the message, "No Notifications. If you have any notifications, they will appear here."

Updated icons

  • On the user's meeting topic page, the "Cancel this meeting" icon is updated to the standard close icon used across CSX products.
  • For Notifications, the icon for the “You have not added any notes” notification is updated to be consistent with CSX design guidelines.
  • All flyout panels now have an "X" icon to close the panel. The back icon (<) is removed.

View People Sidebar

Check-Ins provides two new enhancements for the People Sidebar.

Sidebar Visibility

Prior to this enhancement, the People sidebar is only visible if the user has active Check-Ins.

With this enhancement, the People sidebar is always visible, even if the user has no active Check-Ins.

Active Check-Ins

Prior to this enhancement, the People Sidebar displayed users filtered as follows:

  • If there are more than five people on the People Sidebar, only Check-Ins with the participants modified in the last 31 days displayed.
  • If there are 5 people or less on the People Sidebar, all Check-Ins with participants are displayed and the 'last modified within 31 days' rule did not apply.

With this enhancement, users can view anyone they have an active Check-In with so that they can easily access their active meeting series. People displayed are ordered by last date modified.

Export to PDF

Prior to this enhancement, users could download the meeting in PDF format by selecting "Download Meeting" in the Check-In Series dropdown.

With this release, to streamline options, this option has been renamed "Export to PDF."

Restore an Archived Series

With this release, participants of an archived check-in series can restore the series by selecting Restore at the top of the meeting topic page.

Archive a Series

Prior to this enhancement, a user could only archive a series through the user profile.

With this release, participants of an active check-in series can easily archive a check-in series by selecting Archive meeting view action menu.

Duplicate Series Notification

When attempting to a new check-in series with a participant who already has an existing series, the user will receive an alert letting them know that there is already an active Check-In with the selected user. Selecting View existing series on this alert opens the user's profile to view all active and archived series or the user can continue creating the new series.

Goals and Development Plans

With this release, when a user selects a specific goal or development plan objective, a new screen opens that displays goal and development plan details.

To go back to the first screen, users can select the back icon (<) and to exit the panel, select the exit icon (X).

Implementation

This functionality is automatically enabled for all organizations using the Performance module.

Permissions

The following existing permissions apply to this functionality:

PERMISSION NAME PERMISSION DESCRIPTION CATEGORY
Check-Ins - Create

Grants ability for the user to create and update Check-Ins. The permission constraints determine with whom the user can create Check-In discussions. This permission can be constrained by OU, User's OU, User Self and Subordinates, User, User's Subordinates, User's Direct Reports, User's Self, User's Manager, User's Superiors, and Employee Relationship. Users with constraints in the “Check-Ins - Create” permission cannot create a new Check-In with anyone who is not part of the constraints, but can still view and update any Check-In in which they are a participant.

This is an end user permission.

Note: Permission constraint to Employee Relationship grants permission to dotted line or secondary managers to create Check-Ins with users that report to them in the matrix structure. A constraint "Restricted to Employee Relationship: Detail Supervisor" means that the Detail Supervisor can create a Check-In with their indirect subordinate but the indirect subordinate cannot create a Check-In with their Detail Supervisor.
