Content Skills Tagging - Portal Retagging
Prior to this enhancement, administrators required a work order to refresh skills tagged to content. This took time and required an additional expense from the customer. Additionally, trainings were copied without their associated skills when a copy-down was run from one environment to another.
With this enhancement, administrators can ‘refresh’ skills tagged to content via the configuration page with one click. Moving forward, except for when tagging a portal’s catalog is in progress, there will never be a ‘disabled’ state on the Configuration page. After completing a database copy-down, customers can now easily rerun Content Skills Tagging and retag a catalog with skills without changing the configuration setting in the process. Additionally, this allows customers to ‘refresh’ skills tagged to content when troubleshooting is required or when new skill equivalencies are added.

How Does this Enhancement Benefit My Organization?
It provides a customer-facing method to rerun Content Skills Tagging while preserving the Configuration setting.
Considerations
- When tagging is initiated, the Content Skills Tagging Configuration page is disabled for 24 hours, while the catalog is tagged with skills.
- Currently, our Change Tracking process consistently operates to identify newly added and edited Learning Objects (LOs) in the Catalog, feeding them to our skills tagging algorithm.
- However, in cases where skills are defined as equivalent to other skills after skills-tagging takes place, there was no mechanism for the equivalencies to be reflected on already-tagged Learning Objects.
- This enhancement now provides a way to retag all LOs and have equivalent skills reflected on the entire catalog.
Implementation
This functionality is automatically enabled for all organizations using the Learning module.
