Bulk Publish Online Courses From Content Uploader
Previously, the administrators had to upload zip files with multiple courses inside the Content Uploader and go to the catalog, course by course, to publish them individually.
With the deprecation of Course Publisher in July ‘24, Cornerstone is introducing the Bulk Publish functionality of Course Publisher into Content Uploader. The Bulk Publish functionality allows administrators to review and publish all or selected publication courses in one click after uploading them in Content Uploader.
The Bulk Publish functionality comes with the following features:
- Ability to Publish in bulk courses from the same Publication.
- Indicator of the number of courses in a Publication and the selected Provider.
- A new page with a list of courses in a Publication that admins can view and Publish.
- Search and Filtering capabilities were added to the upload History page.
How Does this Enhancement Benefit My Organization?
- It enables faster processing for publishing Online Courses in bulk.
- It provides a clear display of the courses uploaded in the Publication.
- Useable data surfaced - Number of courses and selected Provider.
- It saves a significant amount of time for Content Uploader administrators and eases the transition from the Course Publisher to the Content Uploader.
Considerations
- This enhancement does not change the existing functionality of Publishing an individual Online Course in the Course Console. It only adds the ability to Publish in bulk.
- Only courses uploaded as part of the same Publication can be published in bulk via the View Courses page.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The publication is the zip file uploaded to Content Uploader or Edge Import; the zip file might contain one or more Online Courses.
All the courses in the same Publication can be Published in bulk regardless of how many courses there are inside.
The publication record is removed from the Draft Ready section of Content Uploader when one or more courses are published inside that Publication. Please go to Content Uploader > Upload History > View Courses.
The Upload History has been enhanced to have Search and Filtering capabilities and can be used to find the publication.
Implementation
This functionality is automatically enabled for all organizations using the Learning module. Users with existing “Online Class - Publish” permission can see the “View Course(s)” option in Content Uploader and Upload History. The same constraints will apply as the user’s “Online Class - Publish” constraints.
Permissions
The following existing permissions apply to this functionality:
PERMISSION NAME | PERMISSION DESCRIPTION | CATEGORY |
Online Class - Publish |
Grants access to two pieces of functionality:
|
Learning - Administration |
Online Class - Upload |
Grants access to the Content Uploader where an administrator can upload zip packages to create draft online classes. In addition, this permission grants the ability to upload a new zip package as part of the online class versioning process. This permission does NOT grant the ability to publish online classes. Without the permission to publish online classes, administrators with the permission to upload online classes can only upload and save online classes, which then must be published by administrators with the relevant permission. As of November 10, 2017, this is the only permission which provides access to the Content Uploader page. |
Learning - Administration |
Content Uploader - Manage Uploads with Undefined Providers. | Allows administrators to view and manage uploads with undefined providers on the Uploads History page. | Learning - Administration |
Upload History - View | Grants ability to view the Upload History page. | Learning - Administration |
Course Catalog - View |
Grants access to view the learning objects in the course catalog and enables administrators to view the Course Console and the Popular Requests and Highest Rated widgets on the Learning Admin Console (in conjunction with the Learning Admin Console - View permission). This permission can be constrained by OU, User's OU, Training Type, Training Item, Provider, ILT Provider, User's ILT Provider, and User's LO Availability. This is an administrator permission. Adding an OU constraint and a provider constraint to this permission results in an "AND" statement. |
