Allow Session Completions to be Credited Toward Curricula
Prior to this enhancement, when there were standalone sessions on a learner's transcript, the session with the greatest registration number was mapped to the curriculum during a curriculum assignment. This could lead to a session completion not propagating to the parent curriculum if the session was completed in a prior registration (not the most recent). Therefore, the learner was not credited for session completion inside a curriculum even though a prior completion exists.
With this enhancement, when a curriculum is assigned with “Assign New Occurrence” (ANO) turned off, the learners are credited with a session completion inside the curriculum if they have ever completed the session contained in the curriculum. It allows learners to receive credit for a completed session despite having another non-completed registration.
If a curriculum is assigned with “Assign New Occurrence” (ANO) on and “Maintain Progress” on or off, the session with the greatest registration number will continue to be mapped to the curriculum.
Enhancement “Rules”
When a curriculum is assigned, the session with the greatest registration number is mapped to the event under the curriculum. After this enhancement, mapping to the greatest session registration number will only occur when a curriculum is assigned with ANO turned on (Maintain Progress can be on or off.) If a curriculum is assigned with ANO turned off, then any session completion will count towards the event completion inside the curriculum.
Cheat-Sheet
How Does this Enhancement Benefit My Organization?
- It assures the administrators that learners are rightfully credited for session completions inside their curricula.
- It leads to less administrative burden in adjusting completions.
- The managers and instructors do not have to track why session completions are not propagated to curricula.
- The end users receive credit for session completions in their curricula without contacting managers, instructors, or administrators.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Based on customer feedback, we heard that customers want a way to ensure any session completion is credited when a curriculum is assigned. This enhancement will support this use case. Also, when assigning training with ‘ANO’ off, the intended result is to ensure that trainings are not recompleted. We wanted to extend this logic to Events/Sessions.
No, this will only impact curricula being assigned without ‘ANO’ in the future.
Assign the curriculum with ‘ANO’ on. Maintain Progress can be on or off.
This logic does not impact versioning, only the initial assignment. If a curriculum is later versioned, whatever status the Event is in will be maintained after versioning.
