Position Management – Custom Fields

With this release, users can create and maintain custom fields for Positions and Jobs.

Custom fields are managed in the existing Custom Field Editor. The following custom fields are available for Positions and Jobs:

  • Checkbox​
  • Date Field​
  • Dropdown​
  • Numeric Field​
  • Radio Button​
  • Scrolling Text Box​
  • Short Text Box

To access the Custom Field Editor, go to ADMIN > TOOLS > CORE FUNCTIONS > CUSTOM FIELD ADMINISTRATION.

Custom Fields for Positions

Administrators can view and manage custom fields for Positions in the Advanced Data section. If there are any position custom fields configured, these fields appear on the Advanced Position Data section when creating and editing a position.​ This section also displays custom field information for a current assigned Job, Standard Organizational Units (OUs) (Cost Center, Division, Grade, Location), or Custom OUs tied to Positions. ​

If there are any position custom fields, these fields appear in the Advanced Job Data tab and the Advanced Unit Data tab.​

All custom fields are available in CSX OU Management (for Positions OU Type).​​

To access this page, go to Position Management, select the Position tab, and then select a Position. On the Advanced Data section, select the Advanced Position Data tab.

Custom Fields for Jobs

Adminstrators can view or manage the custom field information for a selected Job in the Advanced Data section.​

If there are any job custom fields configured, these fields appear in the Advanced Job Data section when creating and editing a job. This section also displays custom fields information for a current assigned Function or Custom OUs tied to Jobs.​

If there are any job custom fields, these fields appear on the Advanced Functions Data tab or Advanced Unit Data tab.

All custom fields are available in CSX OU Management (for Jobs OU Type).

Considerations

  • When Position Management is activated, standard and custom Organizational Units for Positions and Jobs are managed in Position Management and not in the existing OU administrator pages.
  • Custom Fields entered to the Position, Job, Function, Standard Position OU Type, Custom OUs tied to Positions or Jobs will not be synchronized to the User record.
  • Custom OUs tied to Positions or Jobs are called "Custom Position OU Types". The same applies for Jobs.
  • For custom fields, custom Edge Import Loads and reporting capabilities are not available in this release.
