The development plan view shows the user's overall progress on their development plan. Users can view the details of their development plan, launch training items, update action step progress, view and add comments, and view the plan history. Users can also edit or print the development plan.
To view a development plan, from the Manage Development Plans page, click the plan title. See Development Plans Overview (Legacy).
Edit Development Plan
To edit the development plan, click the Edit icon in the upper-right corner of the plan view. Clicking the Edit icon takes you to the Edit Development Plan page, which allows you to edit the details of the plan. If you edit the plan by removing, changing, or adding items, if manager approval is required, the manager then has to approve the modifications.
A manager's ability to edit their subordinate's development plan is controlled by a setting in Development Plan Preferences. See Development Plan Preferences - Manager Allowances.
Print Development Plan
To print the development plan, click the Print icon in the upper-right corner of the plan view.
When printing a development plan, the user's photo is taken from their user record. The photo size is not constrained by the system, so it displays in the printable version as it appears on the user record. Users can upload their photo in My Account. The recommended size for photos is 200 x 200 pixels See My Account - Preferences.
Development Plan Overview
In the upper-right corner of the plan, the overall plan due date is displayed. The due date for the plans is defined as the latest due date for any objective within the development plan. Due dates for objectives are defined as the latest due date for any action step or learning object within that objective.
Next to the plan description, the plan progress is displayed, which is the average of the objective progress levels.
Training and Action Steps
Training items that are not yet complete can be launched by clicking the Launch link next to the item. You can view the details of any training item by clicking the item title. Note: If a user has completed a learning object with equivalency to another item on their transcript, both items are marked as complete.
Update action step progress by entering the updated progress percentage in the text field next to the action step. Once you have updated the progress for all action steps, click Submit to save your progress.
Development Plan Comments
The Comments section allows you and your manager to add threaded comments related to all aspects of your development plan. For example, you may add a comment to explain your recent efforts toward this plan. You manager can then reply to your comments or they can add an unrelated comment. Replies appear indented beneath the original comment, making it clear that the comments relate to each other. Comments are displayed with the user's profile photo to the left. If a photo has not been uploaded to the portal for the user, a shadow image appears in place of the photo. All comments are visible in this section. You can delete any comments that you have made, but cannot delete comments added by others. You can expand or collapse this section by clicking the arrow to the right of the section heading.
To add a new comment, click the plus sign icon next to the section title. The character limit for this field is 5000. To reply to a comment, click the Reply (speech bubble) icon next to the comment. To delete a comment you have added click the trash can icon next to the comment.
Note: If comments are configured by the administrator to be deleted, all comments are permanently deleted when the plan meets the deletion criteria. Once deleted, the Comments header still displays, but the comments are removed. If the plan is appended and the status changed to In Progress, comments can be entered while the plan is in an In Progress status but are deleted when the plan meets the deletion criteria.
Development Plan History
The History section displays all of the editing and managing history of the plan, including creation, edits, approval/denial, and progress updates. You can expand or collapse this section by clicking the arrow to the right of the section heading.
