Development Plan Templates (Legacy)

Development plan templates allow an administrator to create a pre-defined development plan, including starter objectives, training, and action items that an end user can access and then modify to match their specific needs. When creating a template, the administrator selects a specific user population that can view and request the template. For example, if an administrator is creating a development plan template for managers, they can configure the availability so that it is only available to managers. Or, if an administrator is creating a development plan template for the marketing department, the administrator can configure the availability so that it is only available to users in the marketing department.

From the Development Plan Templates page, you can view and manage development plan templates and create development plan categories. All available development plan templates appear on this page and you can search for them by name or category using the search fields.

Note: Legacy Development Plans are scheduled to be retired with the May 2020 release. Redesigned Development Plans can be enabled via Corporate Preferences. See Corporate Preferences.

To access the Development Plan Templates page, go to Admin > Performance, and in the Development Plan section, select Plan Templates.

To search for a template by name, by category, or both, enter the criteria in the appropriate search field and click the Search button.

To add a development plan category, click the Add Development Plan Category link. A pop-up appears where you specify the development plan category name. The character limit for this field is 100. If multiple languages are enabled for your portal, select the Translate icon to translate the field into other available languages. After entering a name, click Save. The new category is now available for selection when creating and editing templates.

To add a development plan template, click the Add New Template link. This opens the Create Development Plan Template page. See Development Plan Templates - Create (Legacy).

For each existing template, in the Options column you can perform the following actions:

  • Copy - Copy a development plan template. This begins the process of creating a development plan template, but the details of the selected template are populated except for the plan title field. See Development Plan Templates - Create (Legacy).
  • Edit - Edit a development plan template. The process for editing a development plan template is similar to creating a development plan template. See Development Plan Templates - Create (Legacy).
  • Delete - Delete a development plan template.
  • Print - Print a development plan template.
