Skill Feedback Assignment

Previously, skill feedback and ratings could only be shared to potential raters through a shareable link, but there was no mechanism to formally assign feedback actions to specific people.

With this enhancement, when creating feedback requests, the request creator has the option to assign specific users to receive the feedback request. Otherwise, if the request is not assigned to any specific users, the request can be shared with anyone using the sharable link.

With this enhancement, the following functionality is added:

  • Feedback requestors can assign raters to provide skill feedback or ratings about targeted users or themselves.
  • Assigned raters can be notified via email digests, and action items are added to their action list.
  • Feedback requestors can view and manage feedback actions including editing existing requests and changing assignees after creation.
  • Feedback requestors can quickly view the results of each feedback action in one view.

Along with this enhancement, there is a change to how feedback is viewed when accessed from the My Feedback Requests page. Results are grouped together and visible in the Feedback Actions page. Click "View" from My Feedback Requests to access this new page. Responses are represented as a fraction (complete/total) when feedback actions are assigned.

How Does this Enhancement Benefit My Organization?

This enhancement adds a formal feedback assignment, so assigned users can be notified and receive action items they must complete.

Use Cases

The following use cases are supported by this enhancement:

  • An administrator wants to assign an optional self-rating to every employee in the organization.
  • A manager wants to assign a mandatory self-rating to every employee on their team.
  • A manager wants to assign mandatory 360 feedback to members of their team to give feedback on each other.
  • A manager wants to assign optional 360 feedback to people outside their team to give feedback on their subordinates.
  • An employee requests optional feedback on themselves from specific people.

Considerations

  • Currently, feedback assignments cannot be rejected or archived by the assigned rater. It can only be cancelled by the requestor. If a rater would like their feedback action to be removed, the rater must ask the requestor to cancel their feedback action.
  • The request format cannot be modified after creation. This is to prevent any change in the meaning of the request for users who have already started or completed their ratings.​
  • Currently, the requestor may only select assigned users individually by name. They are not able to select users by organizational unit (OU) or relationship.​
  • In order to have a notification automatically sent to the assigned raters, your organization must configure an email digest using the Feedback Assignment section. ​
  • Requestors can continue to use the shareable link to remind assigned raters if they would like, even if these raters have already received email notifications. The shareable link automatically checks to ensure the user who opens it is an assigned rater, preventing other people from using this link to provide feedback.

Implementation

This functionality is automatically enabled for all organizations. The ability to specify assignees when creating feedback requests is controlled by the new User Ratings - Feedback Assignment permission.

Permissions

The following new permission applies to this functionality:

User Ratings - Feedback Assignment

Grants ability to assign a feedback request to a specific user. This permission can be constrained to User, OU, User's OU, User Self and Subordinates, User's Self, and User's Direct Subordinates. The constraints on this permission determine which users can be selected in the feedback assignment.

The following existing permissions apply to this functionality:

Grants ability to view an employee Skills Profile. Users who have this permission may view the Skills Profile for anyone in the organization. However, individual ratings have privacy settings that control visibility within the Skills Profile. This permission cannot be constrained. This is an end user permission.

For Cornerstone Xplor, grants users the ability to view and manage their Skills Profile in Cornerstone Xplor. This permission is required to view and use Career Explorer functionality.

Core Administration
Email Digest Administration - Manage Grants ability to create, edit, view, and delete email digests. This permission can be constrained by OU, User's OU, User Self and Subordinates, and User. The permission constraints determine which email digests the administrator can edit and delete. This is an administrator permission. Performance - Administration
User Rating Templates - Manage

Grants ability to manage feedback templates for capabilities. This permission cannot be constrained. This is an administrator permission.

This permission only works when used in conjunction with the User Rating permission.

For end users, this permission grants ability to perform ratings and view ratings. For administrators, this permission is required along with the specific user ratings administration permissions to edit rating scales or templates. This permission cannot be constrained.

For Cornerstone Xplor, grants the ability to view, give, and receive skill feedback and ratings.

Security Roles

Upon release, the new User Ratings - Feedback Assignment permission is automatically granted to the default System Administrator role. Administrators must grant this permission with the appropriate constraints to other roles, if necessary.
