Skill Endorsements - Overview

Organizations want to identify and recognize employees with certain skills. Proficiency ratings are one way, but this type of feedback can be viewed as too formal for some organizations, or they may require proficiency ratings to be private and not widely visible to others. Endorsements are a familiar concept that encourage informal, reciprocal actions between employees (I endorse you; you may endorse me).

With the July '21 Release, users can give each other endorsements on the Skills Profile under the action menu for a given skill. Endorsements are also visible to others in the system to encourage the positive recognition that they carry. An endorsement does not confer a specific judgment about proficiency, but it generally means you are willing to vouch for someone's proficiency in a certain skill. It is subjective, but it is always positive. Cornerstone will continue to find relevant places where endorsements can be featured but they will always be available within the Skills Profile.

Endorsement notifications can be configured to appear in Email Digests. See Email Digest for Skill Ratings and Feedback.

Past endorsements can be accessed in Feedback History.

Users currently cannot remove their endorsement after giving an endorsement. Cornerstone is currently exploring ways for a user to remove any skill feedback, whether a rating, comment, or endorsement.
