Material Versioning

When a material is versioned, either through simplified versioning or versioning with append, any curricula containing that material are also versioned unless the curriculum has been inactivated.

To access Materials Management, go to Admin > Tools > Learning > Catalog Management > Materials.

  • For organizations using Simplified Versioning, a new material version is created by editing the material.
  • For organizations using Versioning with Append, a new material version is created by clicking the Create Version icon.

The simplified versioning process includes the following steps after a version-triggering change is made to a material:

  1. Reversion Options - See Material - Create Version - Reversion Options (Simplified Versioning).
  2. Confirm - See Material - Create Version - Confirm (Simplified Versioning).

The versioning with append process includes the following steps after a version-triggering change is made to a material:

  1. Reversion Options - See Material - Create Version - Reversion Options (Versioning with Append).
  2. Confirm - See Material - Create Version - Confirm (Versioning with Append).

When the versioning process is complete for the material, active curricula containing the material are automatically versioned to include the new version of the material. Inactive curricula are NOT versioned when a child material within them is versioned. Inactive curricula retain the version of the material they contained at the time the curriculum was inactivated to preserve the structural integrity of the inactive curriculum.
